I believe the reason I survived the fifteen years in the institution is that God had a plan and a mission for me. First, to become an advocate for people with disabilities, and now to reach out to others using my own experience, to show them that God does exist. I am the living proof!
My understanding of faith has been influenced by what my mentors taught me over the last fifteen years. Specifically, I believe in Jesus's second coming and the resurrection of all. We will ascend into heaven one day.
People have mistaken the conviction with which I share my personal beliefs as telling them mine is the only way. It is not!
I have not had the opportunity to learn about other Christian churches, such as the Catholic, Lutheran, and Baptist churches, Judaism, Islam, or other American faiths, or those practiced in other countries. My words and actions are driven by the Bible and my firm belief that God has chosen me to bring people to him and Jesus.
I respect that others may have a different belief.
